The first stage of the City Heart Project is now complete, transforming central Launceston into a modern regional retail, cultural and business hub.
Delivered through the City Deal’s partnership, $19.4 million has been invested in stage one of the Project, which has redeveloped infrastructure and brought new life to public areas and streetscapes to create a vibrant city centre and reinforcing Launceston’s position as Australia’s most liveable regional city.
Stage one has delivered the following projects:
- Major works to the Quadrant Mall, Brisbane St Mall and Civic Square
- 200 wayfinding signs installed throughout the City
- New state-of-the-art LED Boundary signs at UTAS Stadium
- Establishment of over 50 Wi-Fi points throughout the city
- Upgraded public seating in the CBD and Inveresk
- Installation of a new arbour system in Charles Street
- New garden at Macquarie House
- Upgraded public seating in the CBD and Inveresk.
